Preface:
When I was a small child I had heard of Shaolin through the TV series kung fu with David Carradine. I had also seen some Bruce Lee films, but never liked them. I did like Chuck Norris's contribution to the legendary scene at the colloseum in rome with Bruce Lee. That is why I first started with Karate (Kempo) as a child. After seeing the movie Lone wolf Mcquade in 1983 in which Chuck Norris took on David Carradine, I became interested in kung fu again. I started training (Nggo Mbie Paei) under my teacher Sensei Knoester. A poster about Shaolin also hung on the wall in the modest and small Dojo. I set myself a goal from that point on, that one day I would live and train there. That I would see for myself what was true and false about the mythical Shaolin Monks. The following story is a rough description of moments in my two trips to Henan China in the years to follow, the stories and events are not described in sequence. Two unique but bizarre journeys back in time supplemented with historical stories about Shaolin. Osu Renshi Pepels
