The 100 Man Kumite of Sensei Cem Senol in the Netherlands.

By: Renshi RP 13-03-2021

Dear members, at February 22 2020 just 3 weeks before the Corona / Lockdown started in the Netherlands, we co-organized the first Dutch 100 Man Kumite with the following groups:

International Budokai Gordeau, Osaka Dojo, Ashigaru Dojo, Kamakura Dojo and myself of the WKKO. We did the matchmaking and the recruiting of the fighters, and i fought myself 5 times in the Kumite against Dutch fighter Sensei Cem Senol, multiple National and International Full Contact Karate champion. A fighter with a long career in Kyokushin, Shidokan, Enshin Karate and more. We have been training together since 2010.
The Kumite was different in some ways, compared to all the other previous 100 Man Kumite's.

1 Fighting in a ring (closed space)
2 Fighters from high level in competition fighting only
3 Most fighters from the heavy weight division
4 NO PROTECTION (no gloves, no shinguards)
5 NO POINTS, all fights fought to the end

During the fight Sensei Senol was coached by Sensei Pepels and Kancho Gerard Gordeau and corner attendant Tjeerd from the Osaka Dojo. For the last couple of fights, Kamakura co-founder Shihan Al Gordeau (who coached Cem in his early career) joined the coaching team for extra support.

We had a great team of referees:
1 Sensei Danny Juffermans (former international fighter) Kamakura Dojo
2 Sensei Ed Heskens (former international fighter) Kamakura Dojo
3 Sensei Marc De Roodt (former international fighter) Kihon Dojo
4 Sensei Murat Onen (dutch referee) Kamakura Dojo
5 Sensei Sylvia Van Der Bijl (dutch referee) Sakura Dojo
6 Glen Huisman (dutch kickboxing referee)

Fighting real Full Contact with no points in a closed space of a fighting ring is very different. No contact can be avoided, you can't step out of the ring to take a brake. This made this 100 Man Kumite a very hard one. Contemporary and former national and international fighters were on the fighters list. To name a few: Floris Hoek current fighter in Kyokushin and Kickboxing, Ferry Wortman current fighter in Kyokushin, Gijs Hoek current fighter in Kyokushin and Kickboxing, Jeffrey Van Duijn current fighter in Kyokushin and Kickboxing, Marc De Roodt former fighter in Kyokushin and Ashihara, Jef Pedro former fighter in MMA, Sammy Lee Muller former fighter in Kyokushin, Mano De Kok former fighter in Kyokushin, Gerwin Van Delst current fighter in Kyokushin, Dimitri Sennema former fighter in Kyokushin, Robert Pepels former fighter in Kyokushin-Ashihara-Shidokan and Sanda, and Kancho Gerard Gordeau the UFC-1 legend and multiple champion in Full Contact Karate, to name a few.

The event lasted for 4 fighting hours, 4 hours! At the end Sensei Cem Senol was still standing to receive the respect of the large crowd in the event-hall, but also the many people who watched the live-stream by youtube.

It was great, i can know, i was there.
