My Martial Arts Journey started at the age of 8 in the Lower East Side of New York City, Manhattan. It was in the 80s, and at the time, that place looked like a 3rd World Country. Burned down buildings, abandoned cars all over the place, crackheads and drug dealers all over. Crazy place to grow up at. Next to the building where I lived, the Guardian Angels set up shop and turned one of those abandoned buildings into their headquarters. One day, while leaving my building with one of my friends at the time, we saw one of the Guardian Angels training in what we later found out to be Wing Chun and Jeet Kune Do. We were memorized! So we asked him if he could teach us and he gladly said yes but that he would have to speak to our parents to make sure that it was okay to teach us. Our parents agreed, and we began our Martial Arts Journey for that summer. Training lasted about 3 to 4 months until they had to move to a different location. This was the beginning of my Martial Arts Journey. I was 8 years old at the time.
