With respect and appreciation, we proudly announce the strong presence of the Mirzanejad Academy WKKO Women’s Team at the Iranian National Kyokushin Profi Championships, hosted in Shemiran. The team delivered an exceptional collective performance, achieving a total of 36 medals across all divisions:

These results highlight both the technical discipline and the competitive spirit of Mirzanejad Academy’s athletes. WKKO Team fights at the Shin-Den Kyokushin Championships in Alborz Province Iran. The WKKO women’s team won 2nd place overall at the Shin-Den Kyokushin Provincial Championships in Alborz, held at Shahid Sports Hall Mahdasht. WKKO fighter Ghazal Saghafi captured Gold in the -60 kg category, earned a cash award, and was honored as the best fighter of the tournament, under the coaching of Sensei Yazdan Panah.

20 – 21.09.2025 Russia city. Prokopyevsk, Kemerovo region, – in the sports complex Delphin, the competition in Pankration was held. More than 400 athletes took part in the competition. My representative Alexander Butsik, head of SK Finist, together with his students achieved an excellent result at this tournament, sending four people to the fights and all four went up to the podium.
Result:
No. 1 Open regional pankration competitions "Kuzbass Cup", among athletes over 18 years old.
In the full-contact pankration discipline, in the 63 kg weight category, he took second place. In the semifinals, our fighter won an early victory by submission. No. 2 Open Interregional Pankration Competitions "Heroes of Kuzbass" for athletes aged 8-17.
I would like to highlight the athlete in the 11-year-old age group, Andrey Butsik, who is the grandson of Alexander Butsik. In the seven-contact pankration discipline, in the 46 kg category, he took second place. In the final fight, he won an early victory by submission. In the age group of 17 years, the discipline of full-contact pankration, in the category up to 59 kg, III place. In the age group of 14 years, the discipline of seven-contact pankration, in the category up to 50 kg, II place.

Wellington, 13 July 2025 – On Saturday, 12 July, EDSOMA Martial Arts had the honour of hosting the Combat Karate League Aotearoa (CKLA) July tournament at our home base in Berhampore. It was a proud moment for our team to showcase true community spirit and martial arts hospitality. The event featured an exciting fight card, with athletes from both Sanchin Freestyle Karate and EDSOMA stepping onto the mat to compete in combat karate and wrestling matches. Each bout demonstrated not only technical skill and athleticism, but also the individual flair and fighting spirit that defines the CKLA ethos. All competitors showed remarkable growth, courage, and heart—turning the event into more than just a competition. It was a celebration of martial arts in its purest form. Feedback from fighters, coaches, and spectators alike was overwhelmingly positive. What stood out the most, however, was the appreciation expressed by fighters for WKKO NZ & CKLA’s commitment to fairness and integrity. In this league, there are no politics—just clean fights where winners win, and those who fall short walk away with valuable lessons. Edward "Bobby" Lowe, known as Shihan Bobby Lowe, is a prominent figure in the world of Kyokushin Karate, recognized for his significant contributions to the martial art and his role as a senior instructor. Born on August 23, 1929, in Honolulu, Hawaii, he began his martial arts journey under the guidance of his father, who was a Kung Fu teacher specializing in Sil Lum Pai. This early exposure laid the foundation for his lifelong dedication to martial arts.
Early Martial Arts Training:
Lowe's martial arts education expanded as he grew older. He trained in Judo and Jujitsu under Seishiro Okazaki at the Nuuanu Hongwanji Boys Club and also studied Yoshinkai Aikido and Kosho-ryu Kempo under notable instructors. By the age of 23, he had achieved impressive ranks: a 4th Dan in Judo, a 2nd Dan in Kempo, and a 1st Dan in Aikido, alongside being a respected welterweight boxer.
Introduction to Kyokushin Karate:
Lowe's introduction to Kyokushin Karate came in 1952 when Masutatsu Oyama, the founder of Kyokushin, performed a demonstration in Hawaii. On May 18, 2025, Barnaul hosted bright and spectacular competitions within the framework of the Siberia-Asia Martial Arts Olympiad. Congratulations to my colleague in the BUDOKAI United Martial Arts Federation,
ALL-ROUND FIGHTING Lobanov AA 6th dan black belt, on the successful holding of the Kenshinkan Karate tournament!
The athletes showed excellent duels, the refereeing was at the highest level, and the organization of the event was impeccable. This is the merit of Lobanov AA, whose huge contribution makes the participation of karate Kenshinkan in the Olympics possible. Thanks to his efforts, karate Kenshinkan not only exists, but also develops, inspiring new fighters! Russia. Kuzbass. Kemerovo 03-04.05.2025 hosted an open interregional kickboxing tournament. The event was held at the Kuzbass Arena complex. The competition was held in four disciplines: light contact, full contact, low kick and K1.
Our colleague A. P. Butsik from Kemerovo, who works closely with O.Y. Perepechenov, is a 5-Dan. He brought his athletes into the ring and took part in this tournament. All the athletes showed good technique and the will to win. The fights were bright and uncompromising.
137 athletes participated.
The competition was attended by clubs from Kemerovo, Novokuznetsk, Prokopyevsk, Leninsk-Kuznetsky, etc., as well as several clubs from Novosibirsk.

I (Tommie Petersson) received some great surprises in a package from WKKO leader Shihan RP (5th Dan). Among them was a handwritten certificate, and I feel truly honored to receive it. Shihan RP is the successor to Kancho Gerard Gordeau (9th Dan), who studied under Kaicho Jon Bluming (10th Dan) — a direct student of the world-renowned Kyokushin Karate founder, Sosai Mas Oyama. Over the years, Shihan RP has studied a wide range of martial arts and trained with renowned Kenpo masters such as Jeff Speakman and Larry Tatum. Thank you, Shihan, for this honor. It was a physically exhausting week, over four days about 25 training sessions for an average of 8 hours a day between Kyokushin, Shidokan, Kickboxing, Ju Jutsu and Kobudo.
Doing the Uchi Deshi training in WKKO was a wonderful experience: for a week i lived and slept in the Hombu Dojo and enriched my technical baggage as a teacher thanks to the guidance of Shihan RP, i thank you very much for everything.
I am proud to be part of the WKKO family, because we focus on the training and growth of individual branches, without regard to numbers and economic interests. Thanks Shihan for the ice bath, i will definitely remember 🤣

On April 26-27, 2025, Novosibirsk hosted the II Interregional Jiu-Jitsu Festival.
The purpose of the Festival is to popularize jiu-jitsu among different age groups, demonstrate the diversity of jiu-jitsu trends and types, establish friendly ties and interaction between organizations developing traditional jiu-jitsu, and involve adults in the classes.
The slogan under which the Festival is held: "Jiu-jitsu is for everyone."
Organizer: Head of the Russian-Japanese Jiu-jitsu school Taisei Ponkratov O.A. 7-dan.
In an honorable atmosphere, our O.Y. Perepechenov was presented with a letter of thanks for his loyalty to the traditions of Japanese Budo and his great contribution to the development of martial arts in Siberia.
The program of the Festival included:
- demonstration performances of black belts;
- the performance of the children's martial arts theater "Perfection"
is a discussion platform where jiu-jitsu masters answered questions and talked about their progress;
- technical seminars (for children and adults separately) on traditional, sports and Brazilian jiu-jitsu were held.

Only days after the martial arts world lost one of its brightest lights, Richard Norton, the ripple of his legacy moved through every breath and movement on the mats at Team Norton. What he’s left behind will continue to be carried forward—through care and connection.
Professor Clint Harris, a torchbearer of that legacy, welcomed Sensei Stirling, Sensei Iwasaki, Senpai Kaito, and the Iwasaki family onto the mats. The timing gave the visit a deeper tone—unspoken, but understood. There was a natural sense of respect between everyone present, and that respect shaped the entire exchange.

It was the kind of session that didn’t need to declare its value; it revealed itself in the way it was held. Richard’s presence wasn’t something that had to be spoken about. WKKO Australia representative and advisor, Sensei Stirling, has welcomed Sensei Iwasaki and his family, along with Senpai Kaito, from northern Japan into his home. On the first day of their arrival, they attended training at the Bushido Academy, where they were warmly welcomed by Sensei Jolyon and his wife, Senpai Brenda.
Sensei Iwasaki, Senpai Kaito, and Daiki joined the children’s class alongside the young master, Shingo, interacting with the students and bringing a quiet excitement to the room. Sensei Jolyon runs a fantastic program blending Kyokushin, Shidokan and Jujutsu for both kids and adults. The children were clearly excited to have extra black belts on the mat—especially ones visiting from Japan.
They also joined the adult class, which featured Kihon, Dutch combo work on pads, and some solid combative Jujutsu. Also in attendance were Senpai Steve, who assisted Sensei Jolyon in leading the classes, and Senpai Ricky. Sensei Jolyon and Senpai Brenda were incredibly welcoming and generous hosts.

On March 22, the First Children's and youth Martial Arts festival "Usolskaya Fortress" was held in the sports and recreation complex of Usolye-Sibirskoye. These competitions can be confidently called historical because for the first time in the history of our city, athletes of three types of martial arts gathered at once, while athletes competed in both their own sports and related sports disciplines. The festival was attended by teams from 7 cities and towns of the Irkutsk region, Irkutsk, Baikal,Slyudyanka, Usolye-Sibirskoye, Shelekhov, Belorechensk district, Sosnovka village. The number of participants is more than 200 athletes aged 6 years and older.
Athletes competed in such types of martial arts as Kobudo Wushu San is a karate Kyokushin.There were several competitive disciplines in each type of martial arts, which allowed athletes to maximize their talents in all types and disciplines and collect a real harvest of medals and awards. The Usolskaya Fortress Martial Arts Festival is planned to be held in Moscow. Usolye -Sibirskoye is a qualifying stage for tournaments of the Siberian Federal District twice a year, as well as for the Siberian-Asia Martial Arts Olympiad in various types of martial arts included in the Unified Calendar of interregional, All-Russian and international physical education events.

On Sunday, March 16, Renshi RP was promoted to 5th dan Kyokushin Karate and 6th dan Kenpokai Combat Karate.
He has had his well-deserved promotion(s) by and from the hands of Kancho Gerard Gordeau.
This took place with an official ceremony in the ring at the 33rd open European Championships Kyokushin Karate in The Hague, the Netherlands.
This well-deserved honour is not self-evident because at the International Budokai & WKKO promotion is not standard. But the qualities and commitment of the person in and for the sport are considered.
In this case, it is more than clear that the successor in Kancho's organization, Gerard Gordeau, lives for the Budo and Budo sport.
And in addition to Full-Contact Karate, he has much more knowledge & skills from: Self-defense, Jujutsu, weapons classic and modern, Combatives and much more.
Congratulations!!!!!!

The 3rd Hoogeveen Gym Dordrecht Kyokushin Cup at Papendrecht, under the auspiciën of the WKKO Kyokushin Kenpokaikan, and the organization of Sensei Gerry Hoogeveen and a very good support crew. Sensei Gerry has made a great tournament in the last three years. His team and structure is very professional, also his attitude and the atmosphere in the event hall. He is supported by a WKKO team and a team of SKN mercenaries from both WKKO and IBK referees and other organizations. One set of rules that seem to work. Maybe next year all juniors and kids use closed helmets. We congratulate Sensei Gerry and his Dojo for the good job. The WKKO is proud on his effort. Osu

On March 1-2, 2005, a sports event took place in Kemerovo at Fighter jym Sports Complex – the Kuzbass Kickboxing Open Ring. 146 athletes from Kuzbass sports clubs, who develop various types of martial arts – Kickboxing, Thai boxing, classical Boxing, MMA, etc., were announced for the competition.
Result:
_ gold 3 first places,
_ silver 4 second places,
Currently, SK Finist is preparing to go to the district kickboxing competitions (low kick section), which will be held in March in Krasnoyarsk.
